QB Connor Halliday: Uses arm and feet to nab playoff berth by J.V. Holland of Cougfan.com, November 4, 2009 at 10:26am ET
Connor Halliday Profile
Washington State verbal commit Connor Halliday completed a collective 12 of 19 passes for 142 yards, two TDs and one INT Tuesday to lead Ferris to back-to-back "mini-game" victories over Gonzaga Prep and University High. The three teams, tied for the third and last playoff spot out of the Greater Spokane League, took to the Albi Stadium turf to break tie through abbreviated, or mini, games. In the first contest, Halliday used his feet rather than his cannon-like right arm, to put a dagger in the Bullpups when he sprinted 54 yards for a TD. Halliday's calling card, though, clearly is his arm. In eight regular-season GSL games this year, he passed for 2,260 yards to break Mark Rypien's GSL record (1,975) for most air hashes in the regular season. Halliday's career passing total of 4,270 yards in GSL regular-season games is fifth-most in league history. Of note is that Halliday made his mark in 19 career games while everyone above him on the list -- including Rypien at No. 1 with 4,965 yards -- did their work in 24 GSL games, according to the Spokesman-Review.
