RB Eric Oertel: Leads team over No. 4 team in AP poll

Eric Oertel recently broke the all-time career Racine County rushing record of 5,016 yards. He added to his résumé this past weekend.

Playing on an injured ankle, he racked up 15 tackles (13 solo), scored two touchdowns and tossed a two-point conversion to give Racine Lutheran (9-2) a 21-20 win over heavily favored and previously undefeated Shiocton in a WIAA Division 6 second-round game on the road. Shiocton (10-1) finished the regular season ranked fourth in the Small Division of the Associated Press state poll.

Oertel rushed 27 times for 161 yards and two scores in the win while also starring on defense. He completed three of four passes for 74 yards.

Biography:
Through eight games in '09 was the state of Wisconsin's leading rusher with 1,920 yards on the ground with 20 TD's. Also had 80 tackles (48 solo) at linebacker.
