| Biography: |
| Brian Paysinger from Wilson High School in Long Beach, California represents another diamond in the rough that the Oregon program has proven in the past to be so successful mining. In high school, Paysinger was perhaps better known for his track and field and is relatively new to football. He is a sprinter extraordinaire, running the 100 meters in 10.7 seconds and competing in the 100, 200 and 400 meters as well as the long jump. On the gridiron, Paysinger played for a team that largely ran the ball; so more often than not, he found himself blocking downfield from his receiver position. His senior year, his receiving talents were finally allowed to blossom resulting in 58 receptions for over 1000 yards and 12 touchdowns. Paysinger’s story is reminiscent of another California receiver who played for the Ducks and later in the NFL, Patrick Johnson. There is a difference however, Johnson stood 5-10 and weighed 180 pounds. Paysinger towers at 6-3, weighs 190 pounds and runs a blistering 4.34 forty and can dunk a basketball with ease. Paysinger’s stature represents the prototype receiver for the West coast style offense. His local newspaper did notice him and Paysinger was named to the Long Beach Press-Telegram’s area Dream Team. He is also a national Two-Star recruit by theInsiders.com and was offered scholarships by Arizona State, California, Colorado, Fresno State and Washington State before choosing Oregon. |
