| During his 2008 senior year, earned First Team All-BVAL, First Team All-East Bay and First Team All-NorCal. Had 50 tackles, three interceptions, 10 pass breakups, 20 passes defensed, recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown, rushed for two touchdowns on 20 carries with 205 yards and had three receptions for 30 yards.
Avery Patterson had 45 tackles as a junior at Pittsburg (Calif.) in 2007. Added a 5.73 ypc rushing clip and three touchdowns for the Pirates. Clocked a 4.33 at a combine in Oakland in March of '08; he benches 245 pounds, squats 455 and has a 31-inch vertical jump; Patterson also runs track (300m hurdles - 49.74; 400m 38.99), but only plans to play football in college.
Patterson reports a 2.8 core GPA and a 1200 SAT (three-part), which he plans to retake.
Patterson: "I'm quick and can open my hips. I have great feet and am pretty much faster than anybody else out there. I'm real hard hitting too and am always making the big play.
"But I want to improve my ball skills, especially when the ball is in the air. I still want to get stronger and bigger."
