| The Vikings claimed Eric Frampton when the Detroit Lions waived him on Oct. 22. The Oakland Raiders originally selected the Washington State safety in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. The Lions claimed him when he was released by the Raiders in their final roster cutodwn.
College: Two-year starter awarded All-Conference honors as a senior after
totaling 100/5/8. Junior numbers included 87/1/8.
Pos: Athletic safety who has shown tremendous progress the past two
years. Displays solid sideline-to-sideline range, flashes on the scene
and is strong at the point of attack. Physical and possesses solid
open-field tackling skills. Has a good head for the ball and displays
skill in man coverage.
Neg: Quick up the field and gets caught out of position on occasion.
Displays more flashes in coverage rather than consistent ability. Led the Cougar defense in tackles with 87 (52 solo) as a junior in 2005. 5.5 tackles-for-loss, a sack, an interception, eight pass break-ups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
A big hitter with a motor that never stops, Frampton received the team Ironman Award in 2004 and then followed it up with a standout performance throughout '05 spring drills. Named by DBs coach Ken Greene in fall camp as early leading candidate to start on opening day at safety. Finishing with 24 tackles last season, he had at least one tackle in every game last season, seeing backup duty in the secondary and was a regular on special teams. Logged 5 tackles against USC, with four against Arizona
High School: Despite missing five games with a broken collarbone, still racked up 30 tackles in five games for San Jose's Oak Grove High on the way to being named to the Western 100 by The Tacoma News Tribune. As a junior, rushed for 17 TDs and was an all-league pick. |
