| Biography: |
First-team Class 5A All-State pick as a junior and senior. Named conference Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, racking up 101 tackles, (59 solo), 13 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, two pass beak ups, and an interception that he returned for a touchdown. Named the Defensive MVP of the Idaho All-State all-star game in summer '07. Has very good mechanics, hits hard, more speed than it might appear and has a nose for the football.
As a junior, Pirtz tallied 95 tackles (50 solo), including 13 for loss, along with a pair of blocked FGs, 2 FF, 2 FR, a sack and five pass break ups.
Also an exceptional wrestler, taking the state title at 189 pounds as a junior, with 40 pins in 43 matches.
