| Biography: |
| Starred at South Hills High in Fort Worth before moving on to Tyler JC, where he earned third-team all-region honors in 2005.
"Antonio is an athlete somewhat in the mold of Jeff Varem only as a true guard," says WSU head coach Dick Bennett. "He's really a strong scorer and a great defender. He's not particularly tall, but he is very rugged and explosive."
One of four Tyler JC players to sign with D-I schools this past year. Chavers said of his decision to sign with Washington State after taking an official trip there, "The coaching staff, players and people there treated me good. They took me to the gym and showed me a couple of highlight tapes and impressed me a lot."
As a prep senior in Forth Worth, Texas, he was team captain and first-team all-district his senior season.
