4-star Texas Tech commit among WSU visitors

4-star Texas Tech commit among WSU visitors

WELL THIS SHOULD be damned fun to watch unfold between now and Signing Day. Mike Leach and Texas Tech are locked in a recruiting battle royale for a 4-star running back out of Port Arthur, Texas. Corey Dauphine -- a 6-1, 180-pound running back with both power and top end speed -- will be at Washington State this weekend on an official visit.

MIKE LEACH

Leach talks turnovers, and how to name a son

SO WHAT ALL did the Cougs do during the bye? What does the defense need to do vs. the Wildcats? What should you avoid when naming your son? Mike Leach answered all those questions and more during his weekly radio show.

WSU Practice: TNF defense dominates

WSU Practice: TNF defense dominates

PULLMAN — Washington State’s offense has performed much better than its defense throughout the season. But it was a different scenario during Thursday Night Football, where the Cougs’ younger defenders dominated. Sophomore Willie Roach forced another turnover, stepping right in front of a pass to Gabe Marks from Peyton Bender and picking it off. Also, a true freshman showcased his d-line skills.

Arizona 101: Now or never for Cougar D?

Arizona 101: Now or never for Cougar D?

WASHINGTON STATE and No. 15 Arizona enjoyed a week off heading to Saturday's matchup, so both teams should be relatively healthy, but perhaps a bit rusty at first. But that's also something the Cougar D should be ready to take advantage of should it occur.

CF.C Pac-12 Power Rankings: Week Eight

IT JUST DEPENDS on what team shows up on any given week - that's how even things are in the Pac-12 conference. Indeed, things are so closely matched that Stanford has three losses yet not only do they have a shot, they still control their own destiny in the race for the Pac-12 title.

KAREEM ORR

Tennessee safety Kareem Orr eyes WSU trip

BEING FROM TENNESSEE, safety Kareem Orr didn’t expect Washington State would send an offer his way. Last week though, they did and the three-star prospect started looking seriously at Wazzu. The Louisville verbal commit says he’s a fan of the Cougs and is planning on taking an official visit to Pullman.

DAVONTE LACY and ERNIE KENT

Pac-12 Media Day: WSU's Kent ready to eat

WITH THE SEASON right around the corner, WSU hoops coach Ernie Kent is more than ready to get back on the bench. And as he made clear during Pac-12 Media Day on Thursday morning, the veteran head coach is ready to eat.

WASHINGTON STATE in Ernie Kent's first season were picked by the media to finish 11th in the conference, ahead of Oregon State and behind No. 10 USC.

WSU practice: Pole back; eye on UA run game

PULLMAN — Arizona is throwing a lot more and running considerably less compared to last season but WSU linebackers coach Ken Wilson said after practice Wednesday the Cougars must respect the No. 15 Wildcats' running attack. Outside receivers coach Dennis Simmons talked about matching up with Arizona on defense, and a familiar face was back in action on the d-line.

COUGFAN TV: Leach sets his own pace

COUGFAN TV: Leach sets his own pace

PULLMAN -- Mike Leach was asked after practice about the fast pace of Arizona's offense and what challenges, substitution and otherwise, that could present for Washington State on Saturday, (Pac-12 Networks, 3 p.m.)

GEORGE LEA

New Orleans DT George Lea primed for WSU trip

IT’S NOT TOO OFTEN Washington State coaches look to Louisiana in the recruiting process. However, this weekend, New Orleans defensive tackle George Lea will hop on a plane and watch the Cougars take on No. 15 Arizona as part of his weekend official visit. He tells CF.C the trip to the Palouse has been circled on his calendar for a while.
