NEWSLINE: Incoming Cougs make headlines
MARQUESS WILSON

ATHLETE OF THE Year honors continue to pile up for incoming WSU football players. John Fullington, the big lineman from North Mason, was the first honoree. Then came Lynden receiver Blair Bomber with Whatcom County athlete of the year plaudits. Now there’s Marquess Wilson, the future WSU wideout who was not only named Tulare County (Calf.) AoY but dubbed one of the region’s best athletes ever.
Wilson, who figures to play right away from the Cougs, was first-team all-league on both sides of the line in football last fall, and followed that up with all-league honors in basketball and track. For the full story on his sporting prowess, click to
this feature piece
in the Visalia Times-Delta.
Meanwhile, the Bellingham Herald did a similarly
nice write-up on Bomber
, the multi-dimensional, three-sport speed-merchant who starred for four years at Lynden.
There weren’t the only incoming news Cougars featured prominently in the news lately. So was walk-on punter/kicker of Jake Miller of Spokane in this
feature from the Spokesman-Review
.
ON THE OTHER END
of the age spectrum, some veteran faces in the Cougar football program secured some national pub recently. Wes Bunting at the National Football Post
sliced and diced
four WSU seniors as part of his break down of Pac-10 talent that could draw looks from the NFL this year. His analysis isn’t all that favorable, but hey, it’s probably better to be talked about in NFL circles than not talked about at all.
