Cougs offer Texas S/RB
Ian Simon (6-0, 175) holds five offers, from Washington State, Virginia, Missouri, Boise State and Air Force. "I do like Washington State, I do like the coach I've been talking to, they seem like good people," said Simon. Simon is slated to switch over to corner this season for Mansfield Legacy High but he's being recruited by most schools at safety, though offense could also be in the cards. "Most of the time it's defense," said Simon. "But some of the schools have said they'll let me play running back a little bit, or they'll try me at running back, but predominantly it's been safety. "They all liked how I come downhill really fast, have a nose for the football. With the ball in my hands, they like how I can make things happen." ALTHOUGH SIMON SAID DISTANCE wasn't too big a concern when it came to Washington State, it is something of a factor. "Location is a big one for me, and the atmosphere of the college. Someplace not too, too far from home, and not too big of a city," said Simon. He said he plans on an unofficial to Missouri, a school not too close and not too far away, in the next 2-3 weeks. "I'd kinda like to get a verbal out in the next couple months," said Simon. SIMON, WHO WAS named second team All-District 4A-8 on offense as a junior, is also a top performer in the classroom.
