XAVIER COOPER: Signs with WSU

Posted Feb 9, 2010

PAUL WULFF'S 2010 class theme of tall guys and big bodies continues, with Wilson defensive lineman Xavier Cooper becoming the 24th member of the Cougars' new crop of recruits. He racked up 85 tackles this past season, and had double-digit sacks.

Cooper, a 6-4, 265-pound defensive end out of Tacoma's Wilson High, has signed his letter of intent to Washington State, the school said in a release today.

Cooper would appear ticketed for the inside of the Wazzu d-line.

“Xavier will bring a level of athleticism to our defensive line. He has a great deal of potential and as he develops in the weight room, he is going to help us on the defensive line," said Wulff.

A first team all-league and all-city selection this past season out of the rough and tumble Narrows League, Cooper posted 85 tackles as a senior, including 11 sacks.
