Wenatchee linebacking duo will walk-on at WSU
Jacob Sealby and Lucas Sealby will arrive at Washington State as preferred walk-ons later this summer, their father tells Cougfan.com. Robert Sealby said he expects his sons to be perfect fits at Washington State. "They're both extremely hard workers, they're both very physical athletes and they're both very fast. Jacob was the state 400 meter champion this past spring. And Lucas and Jacob were both in the 4x400 state champion relay team...I think the best thing about them is that they'll work as hard as you want them to work and they won't quit," he said. Both will come to WSU as linebackers. They become the third and fourth known preferred walk-ons in this class, joining K Andrew Furney and DE/TE Zack Johnson. "They're just really, really excited about this opportunity," said Robert Sealby. "They're very appreciative of the WSU coaches taking the time to recruit them, support them and encouraging them to come play. "They really like the coaches, they've built a good rapport with coach (Chris) Ball," said Robert. "And they really hit it off with a couple of the freshmen players there, Nolan Washington and Gino Simone." Jacob Sealby this past season set the school rushing records at Wenatchee for game (322 yards), season (1,732) and career (2,595) marks. Back in middle school, Lucas was the star running back. In their freshman year in high school, however, the coaches put Lucas at wide receiver and tight end, and Jacob got the chance to shine coming out of the backfield. "I don't know if the coaches were just confused as to who was who or what," jokes Robert. "I think Lucas could have done the same things Jacob did (at running back), he just played a different position." The Sealbys chose Washington State over an offer to walk-on at Washington. Idaho and others were also showing interest.
