Garret Gilliland, a 6-foot, 210-pound linebacker prospect from Orange (Calif.) Lutheran, has liked the Washington Huskies for a long time. He visited the school and the Seattle area in June and really liked what he saw. Now he's hopeful to make his verbal commitment official this coming weekend when he takes an official visit.

"I talked to coach (UW Defensive Coordinator Nick) Holt on Tuesday and told him that I wanted to commit," Gilliland told Scout.com Saturday night. "I haven't had a chance to talk to Sark (UW Head Coach Steve Sarkisian) yet. Hopefully I'll get a chance to talk to him this weekend."

Gilliland is set to choose the Huskies over scholarship offers from Washington State, Fresno State, Duke and Colorado. He has an official visit set for December 10th to Fresno State, but if he takes an expected official visit to Washington this coming weekend for the Apple Cup, that trip won't be necessary.

"I've had Washington at the top of my list for a while," Gilliland said. We'll be talking more with Garret to see if he can finalize his commitment to Sark this weekend or next.
