NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Eight

AFTER EIGHTEEN YEARS in the NFL, Detroit Lion kicker Jason Hanson experienced something he never has before: two consecutive scoring shutouts. For the second weekend in a row, the Spokane native attempted no extra points or field goals.

An oddity for Hanson, who ranks in the top ten in all-time NFL scoring, and a reflection of the continued ineptness of the Detroit Lions.

Here’s how the NFL Cougars performed in week eight :

Husain Abdullah, S, Minnesota, 2nd season: No stats from Vikings win at Green Bay.

Tyron Brackenridge, CB, Jacksonville, 3rd season: Tallied three special teams tackles in Jags fall to Tennessee.

Erik Coleman, S, Atlanta, 6th season: The Spokane native recorded 10 tackles (6 solo, 4 assist) and forced a fumble in the Falcons Monday night loss to New Orleans.

Devard Darling, WR, Kansas City, 6th season: Did not play; out for the season with a knee injury.

Eric Frampton, S, Minnesota, 3nd season: Assisted on two special teams stops in Vikings defeat of Green Bay.

Devin Frischknecht, TE, Green Bay, rookie : Did not play; on injured reserve (knee).

Brandon Gibson, WR, St. Louis, rookie: Seeing his first NFL action, was thrown to once, but did not record a catch in Rams defeat of Detroit.

Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 18th season: The Spokane native did not attempt a field goal or extra-point in Lions fall to St. Louis.

Jerome Harrison, RB, Cleveland, 4th season: Ran the ball five times for 19 yards in Browns loss against Chicago.

Jason Hill, WR, San Francisco, 3rd season: Declared inactive for the fourth time in seven games. Despite 30 grabs in 2008, he has yet to record a catch this season for the 3-4 49ers.

Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo, 10th season: Was true on his one PAT and field goal attempt (from 21 yards) in Bills loss to Houston.

Rob Meier, DE/DT, Jacksonville, 10th season: Did not play; out for the season with a shoulder injury.

Karl Paymah, CB, Minnesota, 5th season: Notched three tackles (2 solo, 1 assist) in Vikings win against Packers.

Ropati Pitoitua, DE, New York Jets, 1st year: No stats from Jets fall to Miami.

Marcus Trufant, DB, Seattle, 7th season: Seeing his first action of the season, Tru recorded four solo tackles, but was flagged for pass interference 3 times.
