NFL Cougar Highlights: Week One


ONLY EIGHT COUGAR alums suited up for the opening weekend of NFL football—a record low since this column began—with the normally iron Rob Meier leading the list of Wazzu greats out for some, most, or all of the season.

Here's how those eight Cougars fared in week one:

Husain Abdullah, S, Minnesota, 2nd season: Tallied two solo tackles in Vikings' victory over the Browns.

Tyron Brackenridge, CB, Jacksonville, 3rd season: Posted four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist) in Jags fall to Counterfeit Colts.

Erik Coleman, S, Atlanta, 6th season: Recorded two solo tackles in Falcs victory against Dolphins.

Devard Darling, WR, Kansas City, 6th season: Did not play; out for the season with a knee injury.

Eric Frampton, S, Minnesota, 3nd season: No stats from Vikings' defeat of Cleveland.

Devin Frischknecht, TE, Green Bay, rookie: Did not play; on injured reserve (knee).

Brandon Gibson, WR, Philadelphia, rookie: Declared inactive for Eagles win against Carolina.

Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 18th season: The Spokane native was true on three PATs and both field goal attempts ( long of 47) in the Lions loss to New Orleans.

Jerome Harrison, RB, Cleveland, 4th season: Declared inactive for Browns fall to the Vikings.

Jason Hill, WR, San Francisco, 3rd season: Declared inactive for Niners' defeat of Arizona.

Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo, 10th season: The Vancouver native was true on a 40 yard field goal and 3 extra points in the Bills loss to Boston on Monday.

Rob Meier, DE/DT, Jacksonville, 10th season: Did not play; out for the season with a shoulder injury.

Karl Paymah, CB, Minnesota, 5th season: Made three solo tackles in win against Cleveland.

Ropati Pitoitua, DT, New York Jets, 1st year: No stats from Jets victory.

Marcus Trufant, DB, Seattle, 7th season: Did not play; on physically unable to perform/reserve roster. Recommended Stories
