Receiver Anderson toyed w/ going pro in track

PULLMAN -- Junior receiver Jeshua Anderson, who looked sharp in Washington State's first practice of fall camp, said he didn't decide to return to WSU until about three weeks ago. A champion hurdler, he was debating whether to turn pro in track. On Sunday, he called it a blessing to back in Pullman.

“It’s a blessing to be back here at school and to see your teammates happy for you to be coming back,” Jeshua Anderson said.

Anderson, a junior who is WSU’s top returning receiver, has won the Pac-10 and NCAA 400-meter hurdles championship two straight years.

Anderson said he’s “happy to be here and have a great season,” but admitted “that would have been a hard decision” whether to return if he had qualified for the World Track and Field Championships. The top three 400 hurdles finishers at the USA Track nationals qualified for the worlds; Anderson came in fifth.

Anderson said he feels more rested physically and mentally than a year ago, when he missed most of fall camp and the first game with a sports hernia.

“I feel a lot better,” said Anderson, who has skipped spring and summer football workouts the past two years due to track. Anderson said he would love to combine an NFL career with pro track.
