BREAKING: Cougs land Cali corner

HE'S ALWAYS THOUGHT Washington State a special place. His father was a standout defensive back for the Cougars back in the 70s. Dad made sure his son knew the program and school well. But things went to a different level after the young man sent his highlight tape to WSU coaches. They offered the corner, and other schools started to come running. Today, he made his decision and verbaled crimson.

It wasn't a difficult decision for Matt Simmons (6-0, 185) out of Bishop Montgomery in Torrance, Calif., to verbally commit after the Cougs offered him. "I've grown up loving Washington State," said Simmons. "I love the environment up there. It's a good campus and I feel like I'm at home there, I've been going there for a long time with my dad...
