Cougs first to offer Cali corner

WASHINGTON STATE has been recruiting him since last fall when they saw the junior cornerback shut down one side of the field under the Friday Night Lights. As he sent WSU more and more tape, he saw more and more interest from the Cougs in return. And on Wednesday, Washington State became the first school to extend a scholarship offer. "I was just hoping it wasn't an April Fools joke," he laughed.

It wasn't. Terrance Mitchell out of Sacramento was offered by WSU on Wednesday. The Burbank High standout said he called Jody Sears and the Cougar assistant gave him the good news. "He liked what he saw in me, I'm kind of tall and kind of long (5-11.5, 175) and I just kept in contact with him -- it's been real close, emailing and stuff.
