EVERYONE LOVES a list, with apologies of course to parades and clowns the world over, and Scout.com recently came out with their final West Top 150 for the 2009 recruiting class. Washington State has 10 verbal commits in the accounting -- third most in the Pac-10 -- with seven slotted in the Top 100. Individual states represented include California, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Hawaii and more.
The compiling of the best in the west by Scout.com lists players from states such as California, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, Hawaii, Idaho and Canada.
The Cougars have seven in the top 100, and a total of 10 in Scout's West 150.
In the Pac-10, and overall, the Cougars have the third most commits in the 150, behind UCLA (18) and USC(13).
Gino Simone
, the top rated recruiting overall in the state of Washington, is also the top rated future Cougar in the West rankings. The 4-star wide receiver comes in at No. 44.
Idaho MLB
Darren Markle
checks in at No. 57 while DE
Travis Long
out of Spokane is rated No. 70 overall. Both future Cougars are rated three stars.
RB
Arthur Burns
and CB
Nolan Washington
, both three star prospects, are rated Nos. 84 and 89, respectively.
S
Jamal Atofau
and DE/OLB
Chris Mastin
are the final two ranked in the Top 100 in the Western United States, coming in at 97 and 100. Both Atofau and Mastin are also rated three star prospects.
Scout.com slots S
Anthony Carpenter
at No. 117, QB
Jeff Tuel
at No. 137 and LB
Andre Barrington
at No. 141. All are rated three-stars.
