NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Nine

THERE APPEARED TO be no rust on cornerback Tyron Brackenridge. Seeing his first action of the season after having just been signed by Kansas City on Thursday, the Washington State alum played tough in the Chiefs’ overtime loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Here’s how all of the NFL Cougars performed in week nine:

Hamza Abdullah, S, Cleveland, 4th season :Declared inactive for Browns’ loss to Baltimore.

Husain Abdullah, S, Minnesota, rookie: Assisted on one tackle in Vikings’ victory against Houston.

Tyron Brackenridge, CB, Kansas City, 2nd season:Having just been signed by the club three days ago, Brack posted 5 solo tackles, assisted on another, and forced a fumble in Chiefs’ overtime loss to Tampa Bay.

Alex Brink, QB, Houston, rookie: Did not play; assigned to the Texans’ practice squad.

Mkristo Bruce, DE, Jacksonville, 2nd season: Did not play; assigned to the Jaguars’ practice squad.

Michael Bumpus, WR, Seattle, rookie: Did not play; assigned to the Seahawks’ practice squad.

Erik Coleman, S, Atlanta, 5th season : The Spokane native notched two solo tackles and made a touchdown saving interception in the Falcs’ shutout of Oakland.

Jed Collins, FB, Chicago, rookie: Did not play; assigned to the Bears practice squad last week.

Devard Darling, WR, Kansas City, 5th season : No catches, but recorded one special teams tackle in loss to the Bucs.

Jason David, CB, New Orleans, 5th season: Did not play; bye week.

Eric Frampton, S, Minnesota, 2nd season : Posted one solo tackle in Vikings’ defeat of the Texans.

Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 17th season : The Spokane native was true on a 52-yard field goal, but slipped and missed one of his 3 extra point attempts in loss to Chicago. He has now passed Jan Stenerud for ninth place on the NFL’s all-time scoring list.

Jerome Harrison, RB, Cleveland, 3rd season : Ran the ball once for 5 yards and contributed a special teams tackle in Browns’ loss to Baltimore.

Jason Hill, WR, San Francisco, 2nd season: Did not play; bye week.

Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo, 9th season : Made one of his two field goal tries (from 53 yards) and both extra point attempts in Bills’ loss to the Jets.

Rob Meier, DE/DT, Jacksonville, 9th season: Posted one solo tackle in loss to Cincy.

Karl Paymah, CB, Denver, 4th season : Starting for an injured Champ Bailey, Paymah posted 11 stops, one assist, and returned an interception 13 yards in Broncs’ loss to Miami.

Ropati Pitoitua, DT, New York Jets, rookie: Did not play; assigned to the Jets’ practice squad.

Marcus Trufant, DB, Seattle, 6th season : Tallied one tackle in Hawks’ fall to Philly.
