WSU vs. Portland State picked up for TV
COUGS' TILT w/ THE MAN IN BLACK WILL BE TELEVISED

THE COUGS WILL meet Jerry Glanville and Portland State at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sep. 20, in a game to be televised on FSN NW it was announced Monday evening by Washington State. The Cougars' first four games are now slated for broadcast with six of 12 overall early TV picks before the start of the season.
More Cougar broadcast selections would seem likely as the season goes along -- games five through seven on their own all seemingly have strong possibilities and could make for WSU's first seven contests to start the season being televised.
Week Five features a potentially large Northwest audience when WSU plays host to Oregon. The following weekend, the California markets are in play when
Washington State
travels to Los Angeles to meet UCLA. On Oct. 11, the week before the televised USC game, the Cougs will travel to Corvallis to face a newly popular Oregon State squad that could also bring in solid numbers throughout the Northwest. On the strength of two Top 25 seasons in '06 and '07, the Beavs have nine games scheduled for broadcast.
The Portland State announcement brings to six the number of Wazzu games (to this point) chosen for broadcast prior to the season, one more than last year at this time.
Both ABC and FSN will select additional games during the course of the 2008 season, with announcements made six or 12 days in advance of the games --- Last season, contests with Arizona, ASU, Stanford, Oregon State and Washington were all selected for broadcast during the season. Ten of 12 WSU games were televised last year.
Season tickets, along with tickets for the Cougar Gridiron Classic, are currently on sale. Tickets are available online at wsucougars.com or by phone at 1-800-GO-COUGS. Tickets to the Cougar Gridiron classic are also available through all Ticketmaster outlets.
In addition to Portland State, the early TV picks on the schedule include the Cougars’ season-opener against Oklahoma State (Aug. 30) at Qwest Field in Seattle, Cal on Sep. 6, at Baylor on Sep. 13, the USC game in Pullman on Oct. 18 and the Apple Cup against Washington, Nov. 22, in Pullman.
The two televised road contests at this point are Baylor and the Seattle game.
