Cougars' Northwest targets include speed on D

PAUL WULFF has said the Cougars need a speed upgrade across the board if they're going to get back to consistent 10-win seasons like they enjoyed from 2001-2003. During the May Evaluation period, Washington State offered a Northwest defenseman with eye opening speed at his size and a high ceiling.

Washington State was at South Eugene High in Oregon during the May Evaluation period, talked with Boseko Lokombo's high school coach and went over his tape, and offered shortly thereafter. Lokombo lives in Eugene but he's kept an eye on the Cougs ever since coming to the States -- he was born in the Congo, moved to Canada, and then came to the Northwest prior to his junior year.
