BREAKING: Casto makes the grade
"I got the ACT back and it was good, really good actually," said Casto.
What did the Washington State coaches think upon hearing the news?
"They were ecstatic, and I'm really excited too," said Casto.
All that remains for Casto is for him to graduate from high school and then he sets sail for Washington State.
He could even enroll early in summer school at Washington State, with the session that begins June 16, one week after he graduates from Ferris.
SOME HAVE COMPARED Casto favorably to Ivory Clark, with Casto being bigger and more skilled. As a senior, Casto averaged 14.6 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game, including 18.7 points per game in the state playoffs. As a junior he logged 14.8 points and 12.2 rebounds per game.
Casto's travels have been well documented. He's changed schools four times since his freshman year -- from Freeman to Ferris to Franklin, and finally back to Ferris.
Casto is part of a Wazzu 2008 class of six, and it's arguably the finest class in program history. Casto is joining James Watson, Marcus Capers, Michael Harthun, Nick Witherill and Klay Thompson.
