NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 17

Big week for Devard Darling

AS WEEKS GO, it doesn't get much better than the one Baltimore's Devard Darling just had. Not only did the Washington State alum catch the game deciding touchdown for the Ravens on Sunday, he also became a father for the first time, as his wife, Cicely, gave birth to Devard Darling Jr on Wednesday.

Although Sunday marked the end of the 2007 campaign for Darling and most of the NFL Cougars, four players—Seattle's Marcus Trufant, San Diego's Cory Withrow, Jacksonville's Rob Meier and Lamont Thompson—are playoff bound.

Here's how all of the NFL Cougars performed in week 17:

Hamza Abdullah, DB, Denver, 3rd season :Posted two tackles in Broncs' 22-19 win against Minnesota.

Calvin Armstrong, OT, Washington, 3rd season : Did not play; re-signed to the Redskins' practice squad yet again on Dec. 27.

Kyle Basler, P, Cleveland, 1st season: Did not play; on non-injury reserve.

Troy Bienemann, TE, Arizona, 1st season: Caught one pass for 13 yards and assisted on a special teams tackle in Cards' 48-19 pasting of St. Louis.

Cody Boyd, TE, Washington, rookie : Did not play; assigned to practice squad.

Tyron Brackenridge, CB, Kansas City, rookie : Did not play; placed on injured reserve due to knee injury.

Mkristo Bruce, DE, Oakland, rookie: Did not play; assigned to practice squad .

Erik Coleman, S, New York Jets, 4th season : Made two solo tackles and assisted on another in Jets' win against KC.

Omowale Dada, CB, Seattle, 1st season: Did not play; assigned to practice squad.

Devard Darling, WR, Baltimore, 4th season : Caught three passes for 49 yards including a 15 yard touchdown grab in Ravens' 27-21 victory against Pittsburgh.

James Darling, LB, free agent, 11th season: Did not play; status unknown.

Jason David, DB, New Orleans, 4th season: Tallied one interception and two solo tackles in Saints' 33-25 loss to Chicago.

Steve Dildine, LB, San Francisco, rookie: Did not play; assigned to practice squad.

Eric Frampton, S, Minnesota, rookie : Recorded one special teams tackle in loss to the Broncos.

Steve Gleason, DB, New Orleans, 8th season: Out for season on injured reserve.

Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 16th season : True on both field goal attempts (35 and 38 yards) and one extra point try in Lions' 34-13 loss to Green Bay.

Jerome Harrison, RB, Cleveland, 2nd season : Carried the ball eight times for 42 yards and had one catch for another 4 hashes in Browns' 20-7 victory over the 49ers.

Jason Hill, WR, San Francisco, rookie: Declared inactive for season finale due to lingering groin injury.

Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo, 8th season : Connected on all three field goal attempts from 29, 22, and 23 yards) in Bills' 17-9 fall to Philly.

Rien Long, DT, free agent, 5th season: Status unknown; has worked out recently with two NFL clubs. Rated by one "insider" as the fourth best available free agent defensive tackle.

Rob Meier, DE/DT, Jacksonville, 8th season: Assisted on two tackles—including one half of a sack—in J-Ville's loss to the Texans.

Karl Paymah, CB, Denver, 3rd season : Posted two solo tackles (one each on defense and special teams) in Mile High's victory against the Vikings.

Raonall Smith, LB, St. Louis, 6th season : Did not play; out for the season on injured reserve.

Lamont Thompson, DB, Jacksonville, 6th season: Led all Jag defenders with four solo tackles and one assist in loss to Houston.

Marcus Trufant, DB, Seattle, 5th season : Posted five solo tackles in Hawks' 44-41 loss to Atlanta.

Cory Withrow, C/G, San Diego, 9th season : No stats from Chargers' 30-17win against Oakland.
