MIKE LEVENSELLER: RETURNS TO WSU FOR 17th SEASON

MIKE LEVENSELLER WILL REMAIN on the staff of new Cougar head coach Paul Wulff a source told CF.C late Thursday night. Now that "Levy is on board" and returning to the WSU sideline in '08, only two assistant coach positions in Pullman remain to be filled. Levenseller will begin his 17th season in crimson next fall and he'll be joined on the WSU playing field by son and frosh QB J.T. Levenseller.
Position assignments have yet to be made public but it would appear likely that
Mike Levenseller
will be receivers coach, Todd Sturdy will be offensive coordinator and Jody Sears, a Pullman High grad, will be defensive coordinator.
Steve Broussard, Travis Niekamp, Rich Rasmussen and Malik Roberson have also been officially named to the staff at Washington State under Wulff.
Levenseller has coached the receiving corps at Washington State since 1992, adding the WSU offensive coordinator duties in 2001, and serving in that dual capacity under both
Mike Price
and
Bill Doba
.
Levenseller is widely considered one of the finest receivers coaches in the nation.
He was a record-setting receiver at Washington State before embarking on a pro career that took him to numerous NFL and CFL stops. Indeed, 10 of the 11 all-time program marks for receiving yardage in a season are either held by a Cougar receiver Levenseller coached, or Levenseller himself.
Levenseller began his coaching career with Toronto of the CFL before coming to WSU. He will begin his 17th season as an assistant coach at Washington State in 2008.
Quarterback
J.T. Levenseller
will enroll at Washington State in January and join his father on the Cougar field this coming season, having spent this past year as a WSU grayshirt.
