NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Eight

Calvin Armstrong, OT, Washington, 3rd season:Did not play; assigned to practice squad.

Kyle Basler, P, Cleveland, 1st season: Did not play; on non-injury reserve.

Troy Bienemann, TE, Arizona, 1st season: Did not play; bye week.

Cody Boyd, TE, unsigned, rookie : Did not play; expected to be resigned by Redskins to their practice squad.

Tyron Brackenridge, CB, Kansas City, rookie : Did not play; bye week.

Mkristo Bruce, DE, Oakland, rookie: Did not play; assigned to practice squad . Raiders may activate him for week 9 due to injury of starting DE Tommy Kelly.

Erik Coleman, S, New York Jets, 4th season : Did not start for the third consecutive week in desperate effort by Jets coach and former football-guru Eric Mangini to shake up his 1-7 squad. Posted one tackle in loss to Buffalo.

Devard Darling, WR, Baltimore, 4th season : Did not play; bye week. His catch last week was his first since Sept. 26, 2004.

Jason David, DB, New Orleans, 4th season: Posted two solo tackles and defensed one pass in Saints' win against San Fran. First game back after being sidelined with a fractured forearm in week four.

Eric Frampton, S, Minnesota, rookie : Made the active roster after being signed by the Vikings on Monday. Participated on special teams, and posted one tackle in 23-16 loss to Philly. Detroit had hoped he'd clear waivers and be resigned to practice squad.

Steve Gleason, DB, New Orleans, 8th season: Out for season on injured reserve.

Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 16th season : Accounted for 10 of the Lions' points in their 16-7 defeat of Chicago. Hit 3 of 4 field goal attempts (from 26, 52, and 20 yards) and one PAT.

Jerome Harrison, RB, Cleveland, 2nd season : Ran the ball five times for 32 yards (6.4 avg.) in Browns' 27-20 victory against St. Losers.

Jason Hill, WR, San Francisco, rookie: Played in his first regular season NFL game and caught his first professional pass—a six yard completion—in Niners' 31-10 drubbing at the hands of New Orleans. Participated in 9 offensive snaps and recorded one special teams tackle.

Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo, 8th season : Perfect on two field goal attempts (from 40 and 30 yards) and his lone extra point try in Bills' 13-3 win against the Jets. That PAT was the 234th of his career, tying him with legendary kicker Tommy Davis (San Francisco, 1959-69) for most consecutive extra points to start a career.

Rien Long, DT, Tennessee, 5th season: Out for the season on injured reserve.

Rob Meier, DE, Jacksonville, 8th season : Recorded 1.5 sacks in Jags' 24-23 victory against Tampa Bay .

Karl Paymah, CB, Denver, 3rd season : Tallied one assist in 19-13 loss to Packers.



Raonall Smith, LB, St. Louis, 6th season : Did not play; out for the season on injured reserve.

Lamont Thompson, DB, unsigned, 6th season: Had a tryout with Carolina last week, but was not signed.

Marcus Trufant, DB, Seattle, 5th season : Did not play; bye week.

Cory Withrow, C/G, San Diego, 9th season : Started for the first time in two years and led the Chargers to a 35-10 victory against Houston. Earlier in the week he and family were forced to evacuate their home due to the San Diego-area fires.
