Jerome Harrison, RB, Cleveland, 2nd season: After four weeks on the inactive list, the Cougar Heisman finalist came up big for the Browns in their 41-31 win against Miami. Activated due to the injury to regular back Jamal Lewis, The Ghost averaged more than 7 yards a run on 8 carries for 57 yards. He also caught one pass for another 15 hashes. From dawghouse to darling in one game.

Cory Withrow, C/G, San Diego, 9th season: After pro bowl center Nick Hardwick went down with a sprained foot seven plays into the contest, the Spokane native took over and proved the value of having a capable backup center on the roster. The Chargers offense didn’t miss a beat, defeating Oakland 28-14 behind LaDainian Tomlinson’s season high 198 yards and four TDs. Hardwick could be out 3 to 4 weeks.
