IT'S GETTING DOWN towards the end of the recruiting process for junior college wide receiver Terence Scott. The 6-0, 178 pounder out of College of the Canyons took an official visit to Washington State this past weekend and has another visit to a Pac-10 school that begins today. He said it appears likely his decision will come down to one of three schools.

Washington State, San Diego State or Oregon. That's the dilemma facing Scott.

With WSU, Scott said he felt a connection with the players and coaches, and in particular, Michael Bumpus. San Diego State means not leaving California, and it's a bigger city. And he trips to Oregon this weekend. Another factor in play is WSU received a verbal commitment this week from prep WR Jeshua Anderson and it's possible they could be done at that spot for the 2007 class.

"I don't know, it is a small college town and I'm a big city guy," said Scott of Pullman. "But I'm also only going to be there for two years. If I were to pick that school, Washington State, a big part of it would be because of Michael Bumpus...we talked for a long time and I really respect that guy."

Scott is originally from Tennessee, but the California transplant has said he wants to stay on the West Coast. San Diego State is the school Scott said he has most identified with to this point in part because of the location, although he said the competition and conference aren't the same as they would be in the Pac-10. And there are other positives about a school like Washington State, he said.

"With Washington State, that coaching staff will go to the end with you and as a player, that's what you want," said Scott. "They'll give you the opportunity but you have to earn it, and I like that."

SCOTT WAS BOTH the leading receiver at College of the Canyons and in his conference this season, hauling in 65 catches for 996 yards and 11 TDs.

Scott was named the Western State Conference Northern Division Player of the Year in 2006, and is a two-time first team All-Conference selection. He led the conference in all-purpose yardage his sophomore campaign, with 44 rushing yards, 996 receiving yards and 371 return yards for a total of 1,411 yards.

In 2005 as a freshman, Scott led COC in receiving with 47 catches for 1,058 yards and nine touchdowns. He has three to play two at the next level.
