Mkristo Bruce's Diary: Week Six

PULLMAN -- It’s been a GREAT week since I've last talked to my fellow Cougs! The weights keep getting harder and they also keep hurting so good! But the whole team's had a few long, sleepless nights. Why? The new NCAA 2007 football game!! I know it’s not just us either, because I see Cougfan.com has an entire message board devoted to it.
The whole situation is funny when you think about it. How many other people out there watch Auburn versus WSU on their video game systems to see how things will come out? My excuse to coach (Rob) Oviatt on why I have been spending so much time playing the game is that it’s just like watching film -- except you can interact! Would you buy that?
Well I didn’t think so, because he wouldn’t either.
But I just have to say how cool it is to be able to have my little brother and best friends from back home call me and say, 'MK, I’m playing you on the game right now!' It is the coolest feeling in the world to just be able to pick up a controller and move a guy designed after you, and go and get sacks!

Well, I can talk about the game all day but lets get back to the team.
The Washington State football team is roughly a week and a half away from being finished with summer workouts. This will also mark the fifth and last year of summer workouts with the Cougars for some of us seniors.
Things haven’t really set in yet for some of us yet. We don’t really want to accept the fact that our time in the Palouse is dwindling down. But mostly, the seniors keep in the back of heads that this is our last shot with the Cougs. So on the field, we all see senior leaders breaking their backs for the Cougs -- like
Eric Frampton
.
Eric is a nice guy who you'd think couldn't hurt a fly. But let me tell you, this is one of the hardest, nastiest, smash mouth football players that I have ever played with. When he works out, he just doesn’t downshift from that fifth gear. This guy will never get tired, and when he's on the football field, he is hitting people in the mouth all night long.
Then there are guys like
Scott Davis
and
Steve Dildine
. These two are like our 'bash brothers' on the team. They are the best friends that go out on Saturday afternoons and bash heads in the trenches all day.
Then I look at
Chris Jordan
and
Jason Hill
-- who are unstoppable on the NCAA 2007 game by the way -- who lead this young receiving core and show them how to work as a unit.
Then you have
Don Turner
and
Tyron Brackenridge
, who are working all day, every day to make sure all the Cougs are ready for the opener against Auburn on September 2.
I also know that none of you forgot about Big
Cody Boyd
! Big Cody nowhere near resembles the lanky freshman who came to the Palouse so many years ago and he's ready to finish his WSU career with two more rings on his fingers!
MAN! I get goose bumps every time I get on here and just ramble on. I could write to all of you for days about who, what, when, where, and why our team is going to go out there and produce this year!!
But I’m going to let all of you get back to work -- and the new NCAA game -- and I’m going to go get some work done myself. Let me know on the Cougfan.com message boards if you have any questions!
Until next time COUGS, we are and still remain the COUGAR NATION OF DOMINATION!!!
MK
Mkristo Bruce
a WSU senior who tied for the league lead in tackles-for-loss and was also one of the Pac-10's sack leaders in 2005, will be an All-America candidate in 2006. The one-time quarterback from Renton's Liberty High has started 22 consecutive games for the Cougars and is on the 2006 watch list for the Nagurski Trophy, awarded to the best defensive player in college football. Along with WSU senior offensive tackle
Charles Harris
, and, previously, backup QB
Cole Morgan
, he graciously volunteered this summer to give CF.C readers a window on the world of pre-season Cougar football preparation with a weekly diary.
