WSU Recruiting: A busy day for Cougar offers
Walnut Creek, Calif., offensive lineman Noah Myers had offers from Montana and Weber State, but that changed on Tuesday evening with the Cougs coming in and delivering him an offer. "I'm very excited to say I've received my first PAC-12 offer from Washington State University! #GoCougs!" Myers posted on his twitter account. The senior-to-be plays offensive tackle for Las Lomas High, but has also seen action at offensive guard as well. Myers squats 430 pounds, benches 315 and runs a 5.3 in the 40-yard dash. • According to Scout.com's Doug Kimmel, who has been active in the Luxury Suites posting tidbits on Washington State recruiting, the Cougars extended a scholarship offer on Tuesday to three-star American Fork, Utah offensive lineman James Empey. The 6-3, 270-pounder has seen his recruitment steadily pick up this spring and summer, picking up offers from WSU, Washington, Utah, Utah State, Oregon State, BYU and a handful of others. Empey has been a two-year starter for American Fork High, being named All-Region in both seasons. Empey also holds a 4.0 GPA. • Another offensive offer went out to class of '16 Manvel, Texas running back D'Vaughn Pennamon. "I just received an offer from Washington St. Blessed," Pennamon posted on his twitter account. In addition to WSU, Pennamon, also holds an offer from Louisville. As a sophomore in 2013, Pennamon rushed for 340 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 52 receiving yards and one score. OVER ON DEFENSE, the Cougs were also busy. This included extending an offer to three-star Berekely, Calif., safety Ron Smith. The 6-1, 165-pounder is rated three stars and the 72nd best safety in the land by Scout.com. "Blessed to receive my first Pac-12 offer from Washington State. #GoCougs," Smith announced on twitter. In addition to WSU, Smith holds offers from Wyoming, UTEP, Nevada, New Mexico, Fresno State, Montana, Eastern Washington and a few others. • Scout's Greg Biggins reported that Santa Ana, Calif., defensive lineman Olive Sagapolu. The 6-3, 300-pound defensive lineman also holds offers from Wisconsin and Weber State. • Kimmel also reported that the Cougars extended an offer to Eurless, Texas defensive end/linebacker prospect Tipa Galeai. The 6-5, 210-pounder, holds offers from WSU, Utah and Utah State.
