NEWSLINE: Newest Coug has overcome a lot

JAMES WILLIAMS, the three-star running back who verballed to the Cougs on Wednesday, was exposed to murder at an early age and was homeless for nine months back when he was in middle school. But he persevered and became an high school honor student and standout football star headed to Washington State.

"Of the five murders that week in Toledo, I knew two of them personally. It was a very dangerous part of town," James Williams says in a 2013 Daily News article. "If we didn't move to California, I wouldn't be the person I am today. We came here with a lot of hopes and dreams."
