Why Deone Bucannon was born to be a Patriot

DEONE BUCANNON

THE NEW England Patriots need to start striking some fear into receivers crossing the middle, says their old secondary thumper, Rodney Harrison. And they'll find no better candidate at strong safety than Washington State All-America Deone Bucannon, writes Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald.

"Almost everything about this kid screams Patriot," Guregian writes today. "He's a three-time captain. He's a special teams ace. He boasts a high football IQ. He's a playmaker on the field. He's passionate about the game.

"On Bill Belichick's checklist, Bucannon seems to hit all the marks. And that's just peeking at his resume. After talking with him, it's more apparent he would fit right in playing for the Pats coach."
