THE BASKETBALL SEASON is over and there are no Cougar football games for months to come -- and yet it's one of the more compelling times for Cougar news. There's tons to delve into with the likely coaching change on the hardcourt, and Cougar football is chock full of happenings with recruiting in full swing, as well as the annual attrition that comes with the offseason.

Two independent sources with knowledge of the situation who asked not to be identified have told CF.C that offensive lineman Pierson Villarrubia is no longer with the program. A redshirt freshman last season, he's transferring with a desire to be closer to home (Louisiana). Villarrubia (6-4, 293) had promise although it was more likely that promise would have turned into results down the road...
