Halftime: Cougs start strong, but get rattled
About five minutes later, senior Andrew Furney kicked a 24-yard field goal to give the Cougars a 10-0 lead.
But Ka'Deem Carey took a 30-yard run into the end zone with 47 seconds left in the quarter, and suddenly the Cougs were missing tackles and looking sloppy.
Connor Halliday had looked good to that point but threw an interception to start the second quarter. But then, a fortuitous bounce. Washington State got the ball back on the ensuing play when senior Justin Segote recovered an Arizona fumble at their own 40.
Carey added a second touchdown on their next possession, on a 7-yard pass from B.J. Denker with 7:37 left, to take the lead.

Arizona was unable to convert on a field goal to close out the half.
