HALFTIME: Cougs unable to contain Mannion
Oregon State was unable to get past the Washington State 49 on their first possession, and running back Theron West partially blocking their punt, giving the Cougars possession at their own 36.
Washington State stalled out after a first down, giving the Beavers a chance to put their first point on the board, a 20-yard field goal by Trevor Romaine.
On the Cougars' next drive, Connor Halliday got the momentum rolling with a 21-yard pass to Dom Williams on fourth-and-8 at the Beavers' 40. On the ensuing third-and-4, Kristoff Williams then took the ball to the Oregon State 3, and junior Marcus Mason punched it in with 10:32 left in the half.
Mannion connected with Connor Hamlett for a 7-yard touchdown pass with just over 7 minutes left in the half.
One play after Anthony Carpenter intercepted Mannion in the end zone, sophomore Teondray Caldwell was stripped by Dylan Wynn. Devon Kell recovered the fumble at WSU's 36.
That translated to a 3-yard touchdown run by Storm Woods to give the Beavers a 17-10 advantage going into halftime.
