Future Coug scores 22, grabs 15 boards

Future Washington State Cougar Josh Hawkinson registered a head-turning double-double in Friday's showdown between Wesco 3A powers Shorewood and Mountlake Terrace. Despite frequent double teams, the 6-9 Hawkinson scored 22 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. Alas, it was not enough, as Shorewood dropped a nailbiter, 52-50. The team is now 14-4 overall and 9-2 in conference play.

Two weeks ago Hawkinson drilled a 15-foot jumper at the buzzer in overtime to lift his Thunrderbirds to a dramatic 69-68 victory over Oak Harbor. He had 35 points in the contest.

He leads the Wesco 3A in scoring this season with a 20.1 ppg average.
