WSU RECRUITING NOTEBOOK: Big weekend on tap

THE BIGGEST RECRUITING weekend for the Cougs to date is underway at Washington State. A double-digit mix of crimson targets and verbal commits are taking their official visits out on the Palouse this weekend.

Thirteen known visitors will be in town.

You can find the full list here.

The majority of the visitors are verbally committed to Washington State but a quintet are still deciding between schools.

WSU HAS 23 KNOWN commitments plus two incoming grayshirts. One of the five who enrolled in January (DE Lyman Faoliu, LB Ivan McLennan, OL Jacob Seydel, WR Robert Lewis and OL B.J. Salmonson) can be counted against the 2012 class. And WSU is also expected to oversign on Letter of Intent Day, for a total of 28-29 in the class.

CF.C projects the Cougars to take 1-2 more defensive linemen, 1 offensive lineman, 1 cornerback and 1 from the best athlete category.

Among the uncommitted visitors this weekend are a safety, wide receiver, two corners and a defensive end.

Those numbers come with the caveat that WSU isn't going to turn away a top target – if a guy high on the leaderboard decides to go crimson, WSU will find room for him regardless of their present stock at the position.

Signing Day is Wednesday, Feb. 6.
