THE COUGS' 2013 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE features two strong road tests right out of the gate, two byes later in the season and six "home" games including four Pac-12 conference tilts -- and a matchup against Stanford in Seattle.
WSU will open with road tests at Auburn (Aug. 31) and USC (Sept. 7) to begin the season. The Cougars have not faced the Trojans since the 2010 season.
Washington State
will host four Pac-12 conference games -- highlighted by a meeting with Stanford in Seattle.
Oregon State also plays in Pullman on Dad's Day.
“Having Oregon State return to Pullman for the first time since 2009 continues a tremendous Pacific Northwest rivalry,” said WSU Director of Athletics
Bill Moos
. “There will be many activities planned around that game, as there will be for all our home contests.
"For The Seattle Game, defending Rose Bowl and Pac-12 champion Stanford will be an outstanding opponent and provide another chance to fill CenturyLink Field with crimson and gray.”
The 2013 home schedule begins Sept. 14 with a non-conference game against Southern Utah, the first of three-straight home contests for the Cougars.
September 21 marks the return of Idaho to Martin Stadium for the first time since the 2007 season. The Idaho game will be part of Homecoming Weekend festivities in Pullman.
The first Pac-12 home contest will be The Seattle Game presented by Washington’s Beef Producers against Stanford (Sept. 28), at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
Another Bay Area opponent, California (Oct. 5), is on tap the following week as the Cougars travel to Berkeley for the Pac-12 contest.
Following the Cal game WSU hosts Oregon State on Oct. 12 -- Dad’s Weekend on the Pullman campus. The Cougars then travel to Eugene for a Pac-12 North meeting against the Oregon Ducks (Oct. 19).
The Cougars will sandwich their two bye weeks around a Halloween night matchup against Arizona State in Martin Stadium (Oct. 31). The Arizona State game marks the first time the Cougars have played a home Thursday night contest since 2005 (Idaho).
Following their second bye, WSU travels to Tucson to face Arizona (Nov. 16) before closing out the 2013 home schedule by hosting Utah (Nov. 23).
WSU concludes its 2013 regular season by traveling to Seattle to face Washington in the Apple Cup the Friday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 29).
