IT WAS ANOTHER disappointing season for the Detroit Lions. Holding a .500 record at the midway point…
NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 16
Lindell has also proven to be a given in the point-after department, having missed just one extra-point—a blocked kick—through his career for a percentage of 99-7 (397 of 398).
IT HAS BEEN a bittersweet season for Carolina Panther guard Zack Williams. After sitting out the 2011 campaign on injured reserve, the second-year Cougar alum was signed to the clubs' practice squad for 2012. He was promoted midseason and saw his first NFL action in week 11.
Unfortunately, Williams tore his ACL in pre-game warm-ups last weekend—the same injury that derailed his rookie campaign—and will finish out the season on the clubs' injured reserve list.
Here's how the NFL Cougs performed in week 16:
Jed Collins, FB, New Orleans, 4th season: Did not play; declared inactive due to a bum toe and ankle for the Saints' 34-31 overtime victory against Dallas.
Eric Frampton, S, Dallas, 6th season: Posted three solo tackles (2 on defense, 1 on special teams) and defended one pass in the Cowboys' overtime loss to the Saints. It was Frampton's first start of his NFL career.
Brandon Gibson, WR, St. Louis, 4th season: The Puyallup native caught two passes for 33 yards in the Rams' 28-13 win against Tampa Bay.
Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 21st season: The Spokane native was perfect on three field goal attempts (long of 38) and an extra-point in the Lions' 31-18 loss to Atlanta, Saturday.
Jerome Harrison, RB, Detroit, 7th season: Did not play; officially listed on the Lions' reserve/non-football injury list. If you missed the Thanksgiving day special The NFL Today (CBS) aired on Harrison's road to recovery, you can view it here.
Alex Hoffman-Ellis, LB, San Francisco, rookie: Did not play; assigned to the 49ers' development squad.
Chris Ivory, RB, New Orleans, 3rd season: Did not play; declared inactive due to a hamstring injury.
Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo, 13th season: The Vancouver native connected on a 42-yard field goal and one extra-point in the Bills' 24-10 loss to Miami.
Ropati Pitoitua, DE, Kansas City, 4th season: The Tacoma native tallied four solo stops and forced a fumble in the Chiefs' 20-13 loss to the Counterfeit Colts.
Marcus Trufant, DB, Seattle, 10th season: Did not play; declared inactive with a lame hamstring for the Seahawks' 42-13 defeat of San Francisco.
Zack Williams, G, Carolina, 2nd season: Did not play; out for the remainder of the season on injured reserve (ACL).
