WSU recruiting hard, says decorated Cali DL
Paulo Lepua (6-3, 265) out of Narbonne High in Harbor City, Calif. and his family migrated to the U.S. when he was eight years old from American Samoa. Lepua said his parents are more comfortable with their native tongue than English -- that wasn't a problem during a recent in-home with WSU area recruiter Joe Salave'a, Joe. "Coach Salave'a, he's a great guy. It's really easy for easy for him to communicate with them -- he was talking to my uncle at first, it was over at my grandma's house," said Lepua. During dinner, Lepua also said Grandma made sure to keep filling up the plate of Salave'a, despite his protests that he was full. "Washington State and ASU are (recruiting hardest). But everybody is still an option," said Lepua. Arizona, Colorado, Oregon State, Washington and Boise State are among the other schools recruiting him, said Lepua. All have offered. LEPUA HAS A frame that could easily accommodate more mass – it's not hard at all to project him as a 270-280 pound college d-end in a 3-4. Because he is quick and athletic with great closing speed, he could also play in the 250-260 range and in a stand-up BUCK role. He's been consistent over the course of the recruiting year in saying he doesn't anticipate making a decision until Signing Day and that hasn't changed. "I plan on waiting until February," said Lepua. LEPUA THIS SEASON led Narbonne to the L.A. City Section Division I championship before falling in the state regional playoffs. Headed into that playoff game, he had already racked up 23 sacks on the season according to the Daily Breeze. Not bad for a down lineman. He was named the City Section Defensive Player of the Year in 2012. profile
