Seattle Week for Cougs kicks off today

MIKE LEACH EARLIER this year created a bit of a stir when he proclaimed, “Seattle is our town,” to the crimson faithful. Given the schedule of Washington State events taking place this week in the greater Seattle area, the man makes a pretty strong case.

Athletic Director Bill Moos is west of the mountains for a jam packed week of Washington State events. The following is a list of events provided by the CAF that Cougar alumni and fans can enjoy before WSU takes on Oregon on Saturday in Seattle (7:30 p.m., TV: ESPN or ESPN2)

Burgers with Bill (Puyallup) – Join the Cougar Athletic Fund on Monday, September 24th at Spark’s Firehouse Deli for lunch with WSU Director of Athletics, Bill Moos. 12pm – 1:30pm

Burgers with Bill (Seattle) - Join the Cougar Athletic Fund on Tuesday, September 25th at Marco Polo for lunch with WSU Director of Athletics, Bill Moos 11:30am – 1:30pm

Burgers with Bill (Issaquah) - Join the Cougar Athletic Fund on Wednesday, September 26th at The Joker Pub for lunch with WSU Director of Athletics, Bill Moos 11:30am – 1:30pm

Recent Grad Happy Hour - Join the Cougar Athletic Fund and the King County Cougar Club Thursday, September 27th for happy hour at Woodsky’s. There will be drink specials, door prizes and tons of Crimson and Gray as we get ready for the Seattle game on Saturday. Make sure to come early to have a drink with WSU Director of Athletics, Bill Moos! 5pm – 7pm

Event Center Pregame Rally - Join Butch and the WSU Marching Band, along with thousands of Cougar alumni and friends, to celebrate Cougar spirit and kickoff game day. The Seattle Cougar Kickoff Pregame Rally has something for Cougars of all ages and interests. Test your skills on inflatables, shop for Cougar gear at both The Bookie and WSU Connections, cheer on the football team as they walk through on their way to the stadium and enjoy a refreshing beverage while watching live streaming of other Pac12 football games and Cougar highlights. Admission is free and open to all Cougar fans three hours before kickoff. 4:30pm – 7:30pm

CAF Regional Director-Seattle Michael Clark, who took on a major role in planning the Seattle Week with Moos, talked with CF.C about the support on the west side of the state.

“Last year we had an amazing response throughout the week leading up to the game and this year has been no different,” Clark said. “We have a great group of volunteers in our Cougar Clubs across the state, including Heather Woodman in King County, who have been instrumental in pulling this week off.”

What makes it work, Clark said, are the volunteers and Moos.

“Working with Bill is great,” Clark said. “He has a vision for success for this department and we’re seeing it come together before our eyes. He loves getting over here and sharing stories with the 70,000-plus Cougs on this side of the state and understands his role in representing Washington State’s University.”

NOTABLE NOTES:

The CAF has seen a dramatic increase in support this year, said Clark, nothing the membership base has increased by nearly 50 percent, with over 6,000 members now donating to the fund.
