WSU rookie hoopers add the beef

A GLANCE AT the incoming freshmen on the Washington State's men's basketball summer roster tells a beefy tale. The new Cougars have packed on some serious weight, led by incoming freshman Richard Longrus, who has put on 22 pounds since last fall.

Richard Longrus now is listed at 6-7, 232 pounds. On the day he signed with the Cougs, he was listed by Washington State at 210 pounds.

Longrus isn't the only incoming Coug who has added weight since last season. All of them have:

Demarquise Johnson went from 190 to 205.

Brett Boese was listed at 210 and is now at 214.

Jordan Railey was listed at 245 and now checks in at 264.

And James Hunter went from 245 to 250.

But the new guys still have some work to do over the course of their career if they’re going to catch Brock Motum.

The veterans' listed weights look to be the same as WSU listed on their 2011-12 roster but for Motum -- who checks in at 6-10, 245 on the Cougs’ 2012 summer roster -- it’s been a true transformation from his freshman season.

He arrived on campus at 205 pounds.
