Mike Leach hires strength coach say reports

JOHN LOSCALZO

MIKE LEACH HAS found his strength coach, according to multiple reports. John Loscalzo, who spent the past nine years at Boston College and Auburn, is headed to Pullman.

Loscalzo has been the Director of Football Strength and Conditioning since 2008. Prior to that, he spent five years at Auburn, where he worked as assistant strength and conditioning coach and director of sports nutrition for football.

Loscalzo also worked with the softball and baseball teams at Auburn. He was head strength and conditioning coach for Olympic sports at Marshall from 2001-03. Prior stops on strength coach staffs include Nevada and Arkansas.

Loscalzo is said to stress both physical and mental toughness, with a detailed plan of attack that includes specific times players run or lift combined with the nutritional plan.

He began his career as a Student Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Humboldt State, (his alma mater and where he played fullback,) from 1996-99.
