Cougs run Broncos out of the gym

ANY CONCERNS ABOUT the Cougs' ability to post a 2-0 mark this week were dispatched early in Sunday afternoon's contest against Santa Clara. And the Cougs did it on the inside, running the Broncos out of the gym in the 93-55 victory.

Brock Motum scored a career-high 27 points to lead Washington State, while Charlie Enquist had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars, who increased their mark to 6-4 after an earlier win this week over Idaho.

Washington State dominated on the inside for a change, posting a 33-25 rebounding advantage and outscoring Santa Clara 44-22 in the paint.

The Cougars had runs of 9-2 and 8-0 in the final seven minutes of the first half to take a 48-27 lead into the break.

WSU only increased their advantage from there. The Cougs shot a sterling 67.4 percent (31 of 46) from the field, including 46.2 percent (6 of 13) from 3-point range.
