Coug QB is Pac-12 Offensive Player of Week

CONNOR HALLIDAY'S eye-popping numbers in WSU's stirring win over ASU had a predictable result. The redshirt freshman QB was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Connor Halliday, from Spokane, came off the bench to throw for 494 yards and four touchdowns in the Cougars’ 37-27 win over Arizona State.

Halliday entered the game on WSU’s third possession and finished the night 27-of-36 with no interceptions.

His passing total was the second-highest in school history and shattered the previous freshman mark of 385 yards, held by Drew Bledsoe. Halliday’s 494 yards also marked the highest total by any Pac-12 quarterback this season, the 10th-best passing total in conference history and the most yards ever thrown by a freshman in the conference.

Marquess Wilson was on the receiving end of eight of those passes, with 223 receiving yards and three TDs. Isiah Barton also eclipsed the century mark, with 155 yards and a TD. Jared Karstetter and Rickey Galvin hauled in six and five passes, respectively.

Deone Bucannon was nominated by the WSU staff for defensive player honors. The second year safety at WSU racked up a game-high 13 tackles, with one tackles for loss and a pass break up.

Defensive back Travis Sandersfeld of Colorado and kick returner/wide receiver Marqise Lee of USC were the defensive and special teams honorees.
