Alex Hoffman-Ellis continues to work hard, he's a strong guy. The other day, in alternate dumbbells, he was doing 105 pounds. That's a lot of weight. Justin Clayton, he's another guy who has been impressive in the weight room.
Is there a worry about putting on too much muscle to where guys can lose athleticism and speed?
Well, take Alex Hoffman-Ellis. He's moving very well, I believe he's gotten faster. He's one of the fastest linebackers anyway and I think his speed is even better.
How has it been this offseason working out under Darin Lovat?
He always has something in store for us. We did 44 sets of power cleans this past Friday, I've never done that many in my life. He'll always come out with something that pushes you to their limit and then beyond it, physical as well as mental. He has a program that he follows, , for these last three weeks, I'm sure he's going to have something special for us on Fridays.
What would be the perfect game for you, how would that play out?
Well it goes without saying it has to be a win, individual things mean nothing to me without a win. And then individually, probably three interceptions returning at least one for a TD, 10 or more tackles, 2 forced fumbles and a sack. And at least one big hit, something that would take the helmet off of one of their better players.
What are some of the nicknames of defensive players?
Mike Ledgerwood, I used to call him Mark Wahlberg, he kinda resembles him. Hoffman-Ellis, I call him Hercules or Spartacus, he's got the muscles and hair going on. Deone Bucannon, we call him Cannon. He just launches his body like a cannon and knocks people out. Jay Matthews, we call him 8-mile. Daniel Simmons, I call him Gerber. He kinda looks like a little Gerber baby.
