PULLMAN – We’re getting closer to the start of fall camp at Washington State (Aug. 7) but until that day arrives, we’re still getting up and getting busy a lot of days at 6 a.m. There’s conditioning to be done, and lots of work in the weight room, too.

***Before I get to some questions, I want to give a couple defensive shout outs. Last week I applauded Jordan Pu’u-Robinson for all the great work he’s done and for how he gets everyone going. This week, I want to first mention LB Mike Ledgerwood.

He’s been working hard, giving it all he has and trying to make the most of his opportunity. I’m looking forward to seeing him making plays in fall camp.

DT Anthony Laurenzi is the other guy I want to mention. He stepped his game up in the last half of the 2010 season and he kept right on playing well in the spring. I think it’s going to carry over in the fall I think he’ll have a big impact for us up front this year. Now, onto some questions…

Which player is the best “talker” out on the field, the one who just works on others guys?
I’d probably say C.J. Mizell. When he makes a play, you start to hear him, and then he just goes on and on. Put it this way, when he makes a play, he’ll have something to say after that.

Question for you: What do you think about the new jerseys from Nike? What jersey combination are you really looking forward to wearing this fall.
I love ‘em , I like the new look, it’s given us a new identity. I’m looking forward to wearing the alternates, the gray uniform, I can’t wait to play in those. I’d definitely like to wear those in the Apple Cup but I’d like to wear them a little sooner, too. But that’s up to other people and we can’t concern ourselves too much with that, we just have to concentrate on playing the best that we can and getting it done.

Which receiver is most difficult to cover in practice?
I would probably say Jared Karstetter. He’s very physical and so good with his hands. If you watch our practice, you’ll see him try to catch guys off balance and if you’re not careful it’ll look like he’s ‘beasted’ you.

Who is the best dresser on the team, who is the guy who needs the most help?
Of course you know I’m going to say myself. Other than that, Daniel Simmons, Brandon Golden, Anthony Carpenter, when they want to be, when they’re not wearing sweats and shorts, I would say those guys. We’re all defensive backs, we’ve got to carry that swagger. As for the worst dressed, I don’t know, I don’t know if we have any of those guys, we’re all pretty good when we want to be.

Keep the questions on the CF.C message boards coming and I'll try to answer as many as I can.

Go Cougs!
Tyree Toomer

Cougar safety Tyree Toomer was the third leading tackler for the Cougs in 2010, with 62 tackles (48 solo). He came to WSU from St. John Bosco in Bellflower, Calif., where he was a football and track standout. He played in all 13 of WSU's games as a true freshman, including four starts. Injuries took away his second season but upon his return in 2010, he started every game at free safety.
