COUGAR ZACK WILLIAMS, headed into the NFL combine, was projected as the 10th best center prospect in the NFL Draft and a potential 7th round pick/free agent. Based on his numbers at the combine, he may have improved his stock.
The official NFL site lists
Zack Williams
this weekend at 6-3, 309 pounds.
The official NFL combine site following Saturday’s session rated Williams a "top performer" in the 20-yard shuttle, 3-cone drill and bench press.
Williams clocked a 4.62 in the 20-yard shuttle, tied for ninth among all offensive linemen. The top mark on the day was 4.14, set by Jason Kelce, a 280-pounder out of Cincinnati.
Williams turned in a 7.54 in the three-cone drill, ninth among the offensive linemen. The top mark was 7.22, again by Kelce.
Although Williams was listed as a top performer in the bench press, the NFL did not have his number of reps listed as of mid-Saturday evening.
Williams also logged a 30-inch vertical leap, tied for 12th among offensive linemen. The top mark was 32.5 inches, set by Daniel Kilgore, a 6-3, 308 pounder out of Appalachian State.
Williams ran a 5.29 in the 40, tied for 13th among the offensive linemen. The best mark was a 4.93, set by Kelce.
Williams started all 12 games this past season and earned the Mike Utley Award at the postseason banquet, given to the top Cougar o-lineman. A junior college transfer who redshirted his first season at WSU in 2008, Williams started 19 games in his Cougar career, missing four to injury.
