NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Nine
The 40-year old Hanson hurt his right knee in the third quarter when Jets lineman Trevor Pryce rolled into him following a successful field goal. The Lions accepted the roughing penalty and took Hanson's 3-points off the board. They subsequently scored a touchdown but Hanson's knee wasn't cooperating, so defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh took over the kicking chores and missed -- a miss that would cost the Lions the game.
After taping his knee, Hanson returned to action in the fourth quarter for an extra-point, but was unable to handle kick-off duties for the Lions.
Today marked Hanson's 295th game with Detroit, the second longest in NFL history for games played with one team. He is just one game shy of tying the record set by Bruce Matthews with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans.
A HOUSE DIVIDED: For the first time in their lives, the Abdullah brothers — Hamza and Husain — were on opposite sides in a football game. While the scoreboard ended up in Husain's favor, the siblings had near identical numbers in the final box score with two tackles each.
Here's how the NFL Cougs performed in week nine:
