Are Atofau, Barrington done as Cougars?
For Atofau, a special teams fixture and a backup to Myron Beck at the SAM linebacker, this is his second run in with the law. Last year the Bellevue product was faced with an assault charge. Asked if strikes add up for a player, Wulff said absolutely.
For Barrington, a Federal Way native who is academically ineligible this season but still on the team, Wulff said academic standing won't play a major role in the assessment of the players, but other factors will be key.
"Not necessarily in academics but any athlete if you acquire X amount of issues, there comes a point where enough is enough," Wulff said. "Unfortunately at times you have to make tough decisions and everything isn't necessarily related to legal issues. There are other issues that happen that are detriment to a team. You have to weigh in all those factors."
Asked if this could be the end of both players' careers at WSU, Wulff said, "I can't give you that comment yet."
